Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What do I do with my old, outdated glasses?
A. Don't discard them, donate them! I proudly collect reading glasses, sunglasses and prescription eyewear of all types
for the Lion's Club who, in turn, provides them to the needy.
Q. What is the best way to clean my glasses?
A. The best way is also the least expensive, warm soapy water is the best way not only to clean your lenses but also
your frames. Use a soft, clean cotton cloth or a microfiber cloth to wipe dry.
Q. Do Transitions lenses really work?
A. They do and now we have more options than ever before. Transitions VI are clear indoors as they are activated by UV
light. They change color quickly as you move from an indoor setting to an outdoor environment as well as in reverse.
The drawback is behind the windshield of your car, they don't tint. Your windshield blocks the majority of UV light.
Transitions XTRActive is activated by both UV and visible light.
These lenses always retain a slight tint and do darken to a medium tint behind your windshield as well as providing a
darker tint outdoors, in the sun. Transitions SOLFX lenses are designed for outdoor use as they adjust from dark to
darker, depending on the sun. Polarized Transitions lenses are also avail. All of the Transition lenses block 100% of the
sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays.
Q. Are polarized lenses really better than a dark tint for my sunglasses?
A. Polarized lenses not only block UV rays they eliminate glare. This provides greater visual comfort
than ordinary tinted lenses and while reducing eyestrain from glare we also see true colors and a 75% increase
in contrast sensitivity providing superior clarity of vision. This translates to safer driving, increasing our reaction time
by 1/3 of a second over ordinary sunglasses. At 50mph, that is the length of an intersection.
Q. What does my insurance cover?
A. Most vision plans offer an allowance for frames and basic lenses every 1 - 2 years, depending on your individual plan.
Some offer a set allowance toward the purchase of eyewear within a given period of time. Often certain options are
included in your plan that hide other options. For example, if you are covered for a photochromic (Transitions) lens
and all you need are reading glasses, I would recommend we choose that option as it affords you a one year
warranty, covering your lenses in case they become scratched, at no fee to you. They also may come in handy at the
pool! Be assured that your benefits shall be used to your advantage.
Q. Do you have the latest frame styles?
A. My frame selection is constantly being updated. I see my vendors quarterly and, in some cases, more frequently, to
ensure featuring their new releases and best selling eyewear frames.
